Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria’s Free Medical Test in Ibadan: Transforming Lives through Compassionate Healthcare https://www.ehmn.org/2023/05/28/ed-harrison-mission-nigerias-free-medical-test-in-ibadan-transforming-lives-through-compassionate-healthcare/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ed-harrison-mission-nigerias-free-medical-test-in-ibadan-transforming-lives-through-compassionate-healthcare Sun, 28 May 2023 11:39:11 +0000 https://www.ehmn.org/?p=2505 Ibadan, Nigeria – In a remarkable demonstration of altruism and commitment to community welfare, Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria organized a transformative event, offering free medical tests to the residents of Ibadan. The event, held on the 20th of May 2023, brought together medical professionals, volunteers, and the local community, resulting in a positive impact on the lives of over 70 individuals, including children and parents.

The event’s primary objective was to provide comprehensive medical screenings for various prevalent health issues affecting the population. Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria left no stone unturned, offering an array of vital tests such as Cervical Cancer Screening, Breast Examination, Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test, Hepatitis, Malaria Parasite, Blood Glucose, Packed Cell Volume (PCV), Blood Pressure (BP), and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements.

The event’s success lies not only in the provision of medical tests but also in the prompt follow-up and provision of medical attention and advice to those identified with health issues. Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria went the extra mile to ensure that those in need received appropriate guidance and support for their specific conditions, leaving no one behind.

The overwhelming appreciation from the beneficiaries of this noble initiative reflects the profound impact it had on their lives. Individuals who attended the event expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to receive high-quality medical screenings and for the personalized care they received.

While speaking to the beneficiaries, the lead doctor, Dr. Gbemijo said it is important to know an individual’s health status earlier to avoid complicated issues in the future. In his words, “We will do a test known as cancer and it’s of two types. The first one is for men (prostate cancer) when a man is above 40 years, he can do it. We will do it today because it’s something that is dangerous and kills men quickly but when someone knows early, there is no problem because there is treatment and if anyone has it today we will tell him how to go about it. “The second one is cervical cancer, it’s women that have it and it’s contacted from men but if we know earlier, there are no problems. We will check the cervix to know any woman that has it and the treatment to be done immediately. “It is good to know, if someone doesn’t know it’s a problem…”

Mrs. Adeola Odeyemi, a mother of two who attended the event, shared her heartfelt appreciation, stating, “I am immensely grateful to Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria for organizing this free medical test. As a mother, it is a great relief to know that my children and I have received comprehensive screenings. The medical attention and advice we received are invaluable, and it has given me peace of mind regarding our health.”

The impact of the event extends beyond the immediate beneficiaries. By raising awareness about prevalent health issues and providing crucial medical screenings, Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria has empowered the Ibadan community to take charge of their well-being and make informed decisions about their health.

This commendable effort by Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria serves as a shining example of the transformative power of compassion and community engagement. It is a testament to the fact that small acts of kindness can make a substantial difference in the lives of individuals and communities at large.

As we look forward to a brighter future, this initiative serves as a remarkable precedent for others to follow, inspiring hope, and fostering a healthier and happier community.

The programme has been consistently organized against the the backdrop of the economic challenges facing many youth in the country and a need for the youth as leaders of tomorrow, to be distinguished in life.

Speaking at the programme, the Convener explained that God has purpose for every one of us in life, it is  only for us to listen to and obey Him. This piece being in order, everything will surely come to pass. In his words, ‘’sometimes God will make us pass through hard ways so we can be strong for the work he has for us’’

Evangelist Harrison narrated his experience as a young American horse trainer with nothing but God’s promise to use him. Later this would cause him to come to Nigeria to preach the gospel to the people even at the detriment of his pocket. Nonetheless, he believed in God and followed His command

A major highlight of the program was the award of prizes to selected individuals that participated in a raffle. The winners were given cash prizes and gadgets to boost their business.

The winners emerged from a list of young entrepreneurs who entered their business ideas for the contest  during their registration for the programme. “A section of the registration form demanded that anyone with good business idea should fill a form indicating their business  ideas while the most creative ideas would be selected for a raffle draw” explained.

Mr Akintunbosun Michael won the N50,000 entrepreneurship package.  Ms Abegunde Rachael Talotoluwa  and Ms Tonia Okonji won note pad and Ipad as first and second runners-up respectively.

Starting Small in Business is a Training to Provide Opportunities- Ed Harrison https://www.ehmn.org/2019/08/08/starting-small-in-business-is-a-training-to-provide-opportunities-ed-harrison/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=starting-small-in-business-is-a-training-to-provide-opportunities-ed-harrison Thu, 08 Aug 2019 02:54:03 +0000 https://www.ehmn.org/?p=2070 “If your quality deserves high price, sell it. Not because someone is rich and you inflate it. The will of God for you to be profitable not to break even”

It was another gathering of business owners, entrepreneurs, prospective business owners and students at the 3rd edition of the Guaranteed to Succeed (GTS) seminar by Edward Harrison, the Global Cowboy Ministries at the prestigious Premier Hotel, Ibadan, Oyo state on 14th of March 2019. The seminar title “From Lack to Prosperity in God’s Way” was coined to prepare people on how to be successful in their businesses without losing the standard of God.

The convener, Ed Harrison, a Professional Horse Trainer and Evangelist in US Texas gave the people practical insight on what they can do to be exceptional in their businesses with greater results. The speaker who spoke from his experience as an amateur horse trainer to a professional and global phenomena said serving others is a way for people to get prepared for the future and it’s a training moment which will shape the person for bigger opportunities.

According to him “being small in a business is such a blessing, it provides you the opportunity to grow and learn for the bigger stage”. He said God can deliberately make us pass through hard ways so we can be strong for the work he has for us.

He added that attitude towards work is also very important which is one of the virtue needed to be successful. Being religious or spiritual in business isn’t enough for people to be successful in business or in life but certain attributes are required which includes punctuality, truthfulness and composure. Making reference to the bible in Ecc 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…” in his words “you don’t work, you don’t live, don’t allow people to dictate how you act because they don’t treat you well”

While responding to a question on how Nigeria bill people based on their status, Harrison made reference to bible in proverb 11:1 that “a false balance is an abomination to the lord, but a just weight is his delight” he said the quality of product should be the prerequisite for billing. “If your quality deserves high price, sell it. Not because someone is rich and you inflate it. The will of God for you to be profitable not to break even”.

The programme ended with gifts items given to the attendees while prayer for success by the Evangelist was made to wrap up the event.

The Guaranteed to Succeed in its third edition has been a source of blessing to the youth, students, business owners and traders in the country. At the 2017 edition held at Nustream event center, Ibadan, a young entrepreneur, Akintunbosun Michael was given N50,000 to start up his business idea while others won different gifts to ease their businesses.
